Find someone to share your driving

Cut down pollution in your local environment by joining the park‘s on-line car sharing scheme and find someone to share your driving.
This service is offered to anyone working at New Greenham Park. Using special Traffic Mediator software, you can register your details and then request or offer journeys on-line or by phone if you prefer. Preferences can be expressed about your fellow car sharer regarding smoking and gender and, because the software works in real time, a lift can be matched instantly.
You do not need to be a car owner or driver to register and take part - if you need a lift log on to the scheme and see if someone is going your way.
There are some important points about car sharing and personal safety. The Trust strongly advises that you read and act on the following suggestions before you start car sharing. The Trust can in no way be held responsible for what happens if you car share, but these suggestions will help to make your journey a safe one.
- Always meet in a public and well-lit place. At New Greenham Park, car sharers are welcome to use the security lodge at the Main Street entrance for their initial meeting point.
- Even if initial contact is made via email, the two parties should exchange telephone numbers and make arrangements for journeys over the telephone and not via email. This will avoid confusion over arrangements that need updating at the last minute.
- Drivers offering a lift should give someone else the following details:
The name, address and telephone number of the person they are meeting
Where and when they are meeting them
Where they are driving to
What time they expect to be at their destination - Passengers getting a lift should ask the driver for the make, model and colour of their car as well as the registration number.
- Do not get into the car if these do not correspond to what was provided on the phone.
- Passengers should give some one else the following details:
The name, address and telephone number of the person they are meeting
The make, model and colour of the car and the registration number
Where and when they are meeting them
Where they are getting a lift to
What time they expect to be at their destination - Passengers wanting to see the driver‘s MOT, driving licence and insurance certificate should let the driver know when making arrangements - do not expect the driver to have these items with him/her.
- If your registered carshare lift home from the Park should fall through due to exceptional circumstances, leaving you stranded at work, the Trust will arrange for emergency transport home for you, up to a radius of 25 miles. (The Trust reserves the right at its absolute discretion to give notice of withdrawing this service where appropriate.) Simply call 01635 817444 up till 5.30pm or come to the Trust‘s office at Liberty House, the Enterprise Centre, up till
5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and we will organise a lift for you. After hours
contact the
Security Lodge.
